The story...
Well, I am not posting the whole story, but I found out that Spear Of Destiny was not a sequel, but a prequel. It is in its full story somewhere, and, you can see that hitler isn't dead yet.

Yes. When exactly do you think it takes place? Episodes 4-6 take place before Episodes 1-3 in Wolf3d. My best guess is that Spear takes place either after Episode 1 or 2... because there are mutants, but Hitler is still alive. It's a cool mystery though. :lol:

The mutants are the confusing part, becuase it is supposed to be before episode 1...maybe someday we'll find out.

what happened BEFORE, like, for example, Doom is the prequel to Doom 2, and just so you know (not saying you don't) a sequel would be like Doom 2 is the sequel to Doom.

The most logical answer is that it takes place after Episode 2 of the original Wolfenstein, because yes, the mutants are still abundant, and Hitler is not dead yet (the most obvious clue to this besides the story in the manual is the fact that the President says at the end of the game that with the spear captured the Allies can finally defeat Hitler). I'm not sure it says anywhere for sure when the setting is, but I'm comfortable thinking that there are mutants left over from Schabbs and his schemes, having been retained to guard the spear. That timeline sits pretty well with me.

But Schabbs did play an active role in Spear of Destiny... :) "The main castle floors are the most extensively developed area in the entire Nuremburg Castle. Besides SS, and Officers, Hitler's chief scientist and minister of the macabre, Dr. Schabbs has used the powers of the Spear of Destiny to create an army of mutant guards." "Floor sixteen is the top level of the main castle. Dr. Schabbs has been assigned to a facility which contains a more suitable lab for creating mutants. However, he's left his most prized creation to guard the spear, the Ubermutant." That doesn't mean that Schabbs was still alive during the time BJ got to Nuremburg though, or does it? At the end of Episode 2, it says: All his journals and equipment will be destroyed. Humanity is safe from his hordes of hideous mutants. Sounds like a closing statement for the mutants; or is it? Taken the other way, if BJ did see mutants in Nuremburg first, then he wouldn't even have to check if Operation: Eisenfaust was real. That would either mean that Episode 2 happened first, or that BJ secretly knew about the mutants already in Eisenfaust, and has his own personal agenda (going there to get alot of treasure, felt in a killing mood, wanted to get rid of Schabbs, wanted something to add to his resume). I wonder which things should be considered serious, and which as bonus things for fun (to go along with the mutants in E6L10; perhaps). Also, in the Wolf3d Hintbook, it doesn't mention the maps being associated with anything, but in the Spear Hintbook, it mentiones that they were blueprints pieced together by various sources, so at that time, whoever those sources were (allies? nazi spies?) knew about the mutants as well. So I think you're right, after Episode 2 would make the most sense. Still fun to find and explain more loopholes though. Who knows if ID even tried to place Spear of Destiny in either timeline specifically. Maybe Schabbs just cloned himself with the Spear of Destiny? BJ has so many lives that maybe he was battling through both castles at once. ;)

:lol: Could be. I think your statements help to confirm the "between E2 and E3" theory pretty well. My best guess says that Schabbs was dead already, and what BJ faced during SOD represented the remnants (or perfection, in the case of Ubermutant) of what he'd done. The whole surprise factor involving the mutants seems only to exist in E2 of Wolfenstein, and the fact that there's no special message or cutscene or anything at all when BJ faces them in SOD kind of has him saying in my head "yeah, these guys again...been here, done this..." Once again, the real clincher for me is the statement by the President that now Hitler can be defeated...but what a messed up timeline, eh? Wolf E4 --> E5 --> E6 --> E1 --> E2 --> SOD --> E3 No wonder kids are confused! Actually, as I kid, I just played them straight through and never bothered to wonder if there was any disorder to how the story was laid out. I did wonder why it sounded like the mission wasn't over when you beat E6 of the nocturnal missions. Now I know! :D
